WOOTTON BASSETT has enjoyed a wonderful first season and he justified connections' faith with a clear-cut success. Making all under Paul Hanagan he was a little too free in the early changes but kept finding more for pressure and had this won some way out. He's now a Group One winner and despite the tall reputations currently enjoyed by Frankel and Dream Ahead, he more than merits his place towards the head of the 2000 Guineas market. With favourite My Name Is Bond far too keen and not giving his running, Maiguiri and Tin Horse emerged as best of the home team but Moonlight Cloud is the one to take from the race for French fans. She is held in high regard and while never able to land a blow, she'll be a force back against her own sex. Treasury Devil is the sort to make a three-year-old and it would be no surprise to see him in a Derby trial in the spring while King Torus seemed all at sea on the testing ground and is worth another chance.
