Verdict

Katie Walsh enjoyed another remarkable success - this time against the professionals - as she timed her run superbly on THOUSAND STARS. The duo made progress from the mid-division to get into a challenging position after two out and after winging the last, they were not going to be caught from that position. Arcalis, a past Festival winner, sprouted wings himself to cut through the pack on the run-in although his late surge was never going to get to the winner. Dee Ee Williams had been well supported in the morning at long odds and turning for home had poached a decent lead. But as has happened in the past in this race, he could not quite keep up the gallop to the line. This was a very good effort though. Zanir was perhaps travelling the best on the run to the last but found precious little off the bridle and of the rest, Inventor ran a fine race on just his fourth start and looks a horse to follow. Marodima went off at a decent pace but found the reserves registering empty from the second last.
