ALBERTAS RUN gained his second success at the Cheltenham Festival after his RSA Chase win in 2008 and again it came on his favoured good ground. Tony McCoy took up the initiative early and his mount responded around the final turn and up the hill and his pursuers just couldn't go with him. He was cut for the Grand National after this but he looks at home when ridden aggressively over two and a half miles. Poquelin and J'y Vole scrimmaged around the home turn but the places remained unaltered after a stewards' inquiry with Ruby Walsh just getting Paul Nicholls' horse home in second. J'y Vole ran a cracking race under Davy Condon who tried to go up the inside of Walsh but failed in his quest. Jack The Giant ran an eyecatching race after a long absence but tired in the closing stages while Barbers Shop and Planet Of Sound made mistakes. Tranquil Sea never ran his race and probably needs softer ground while the first-time headgear failed to revitalise Voy Por Ustedes. Deep Purple ran well in front for a long way but a late mistake ended his chances.
