Verdict

A one-two for the Cheveley Park Stud as second string SPACIOUS got the better of Heaven Sent in a close finish. The winner had been sent off favourite for a race at Epsom on her comeback but she seemed ill at ease on the undulations and found this much more straightforward as Johnny Murtagh bounced her out of the stalls and just pointed her in the right direction. She stuck limpet-like to the stands' rail and responded with great determination when the runner-up came to challenge inside the final couple of furlongs and connections now believe these sort of tactics will suit her best. Heaven Sent lost little in defeat and to be fair she would not quite have the class of a Spacious at her best. Lush Lashes was a well-backed favourite but ran some way below her peak and was well held in sixth. Even allowing for her giving away a Group 1 penalty, this was disappointing and she may just be feeling the effects of a tough campaign as a three year old. Eva's Request had beaten the winner at Epsom last time and seemed to run her race again with a creditable third. She will be a force once again when eased in grade a fraction.
