Verdict

KAYF ARAMIS kicked off an excellent day for Venetia Williams with a gutsy effort to land the Pertemps Final. Always in the leading pack, he took up the gauntlet three from home and saw off all challengers up the hill despite not appearing to be travelling as well as some round the final bend. Buena Vista made up ground to challenge the winner at the last, where he wasn't so fluent, and he had no answer as Kayf Aramis pulled out more up the hill. Pennek responded well to first-time blinkers and he finished with his customary late thrust. His trainer was pleased with his effort and nominated the four-miler as a possible target for him when he tackles fences next season.
