Infallible was a warm order here, bringing placed Classic form to the table and the drop in trip expected to suit. It didn't, as she failed to quicken off the fast pace set by Dunelight, unlike the winner PACO BOY and runner-up Stimulation. Richard Hannon's charge hadn't been seen since he was seventh in the French 2000 Guineas, but connections were bullish beforehand and their confidence proved to be justified. Richard Hughes settled his mount prominently, just on the heels of Dunelight, and he went to the front a furlong out always holding Stimulation who trod a similar path. A step up back to a mile should hold no fears for the winner or the runner-up. This was another good effort from Dunelight who remains in good form following a winning effort at Windsor last time. Il Warrd was tapped for toe at a crucial stage but finished his race quite well.
