Verdict

SUGAR RAY recorded a wire-to-wire success under Ryan Moore to deny the well-backed Mad Rush who finished with a late thrust. This was a shrewd front-running ride from Moore who slowed the pace down once at the front before kicking for the line a long way from home. Mad Rush rallied gamely for Jimmy Fortune but could not quite reel in the winner who was recording his third career success. He is still on the upgrade and could improve again. King Charles was another who closed in on the winner late on without quite getting there, but this was a good effort and he could be placed to good effect by Ed Dunlop next time.
