Verdict

Kerrin McEvoy judged things beautifully on FESTIVALE in the finale and his swoop nailed the unfortunate Illusion. The latter had been urged to the front travelling well by Seb Sanders with a couple of furlongs to run and seemed certain to hang on until the winner played her cards late. Shabiba's ideal trip had been under question and it would have been no surprise to see her develop into a sprinter. She seemed to stay out this mile pretty well though. She was involved in some early scrimmaging on the rail with Makaaseb, with the latter nearly putting Shabiba into the Silver Ring. Makaaseb was sporting first-time cheekpieces and raced prominently from her good draw but dropped out rather tamely and was disappointing.
