No hanging about in the finale on Oaks day. BELLOMI left his two runs to date this season well and truly behind and reversed his Newmarket form with Slugger O'Toole to land it. Formerly trained by Mick Channon, the winner was a smart juvenile who incidently has shown a preference for undulating courses in the past and clearly this course brought out the best in him. Dubai Meydan has his chinks and didn't appear to handle the undulations but once straightened up he appeared to relish sweeping past beaten horses. Gay Kelleway has never hidden her admiration for Dubai Meydan but he is the type that will be hard to catch right. Slugger O'Toole is possibly now in the grip of the handicapper. An impressive winner at Newmarket on his previous start, he failed to produce that instant turn of foot that saw him land that Newmarket event. Opera Prince did not get the run of the race against the far rail and when switched the race was over. Meydan Dubai was held up and ran on but the second passed him in the straight so no excuses can be offered.
