In depth

Verdict

HEERAAT has been narrowly beaten in three handicaps at this level recently and deserves a change of fortune, which hopefully he'll get here. Lupin Pooter won three of his first four starts but had no answer to today's rival Waseem Faris over the C&D last month. The winner has been beaten twice subsequently while runner-up Kool Henry was well beaten when stepped up to 6f at Ascot and has only won once in 15 starts. Almond Branches, who finished a close third behind Waseem Faris, might well improve past the pair of them from her lowly mark while Towbee wins every other race so this should be his turn. Sir Maximilian looks the main threat as he could hardly have won a Doncaster maiden any easier and didn't look entirely happy on rain-softened Polytrack at Kempton last time.
