Verdict

With the ground forecast to be riding on the fast side of good, high numbers may have an advantage of the sprint course today which suggests Tim Easterby's trio - Captain Dunne, Ponty Acclaim and Hazelrigg - have it all to do. Doctor Parkes and Zero Money will also be starting on the far side but the latter's stablemate, Rex Imperator, is drawn against the stands rail though faces a stiff task for a three-year-old and Roger Charlton has had a lean time of it here in recent years. This may be too sharp for Mass Rally but Fratellino could figure as he blew the start when favourite at Doncaster on Saturday and was never in contention thereafter. Le Toreador has gone up 3lb since finishing second at Goodwood while Chunky Diamond hasn't progressed this year so we'll give a tentative vote to veteran TAX FREE, who showed he was no back number when chasing home Pepper Lane in the Great St Wilfrid on Saturday and is turned out again quickly before he can be reassessed. The drop to 5f won't be a problem.
