Verdict

Winged Flight showed improved form when running away with a Yarmouth maiden 12 days ago but it is impossible to know what he achieved that day and at the forecast odds it may be worth taking a chance with Putra Square, who gets the vote ahead of Ready For Spring and Big Timer. The last mentioned has created a favourable impression when winning races at Ayr and Ripon and Ian Semple's colt looks ready for this step in class. Mark Johnston's Old Romney has also won his last two starts but would probably want a quicker surface, while Celestial Halo has a nice pedigree but faces no easy task on his debut. Gweebarra may do better now that he races on a softer surface but is more exposed than most of these and of more interest may be Jeremy Noseda's Newmarket winner Ready For Spring. He would probably want faster ground though and preference is for Putra Square, who may have caught a tartar when second to Aqmaar on his Newbury debut. Paul Cole's string could hardly be in better form right now though and, with plenty of improvement to come, he gets the vote in a decent looking renewal of the Acomb.
