In depth

Verdict

In a field where there is little form to go on, Vauquelin is taken to atone for two near misses and get the better of newcomers Codeword and Inspirina. Mark Johnston¿s Codeword is a grey son of Dansili and hails from a winning American family. The trainer can get them ready first time and reserves his best juveniles for the the better meetings so any market move should be heeded. A similar remark also applies to Kevin Ryan¿s Inspirina. The trainer¿s two-year-olds have been the yard¿s flagbearers and although a relatively cheap purchase, Inspirina is out of a multiple winning sprinter and looks bred for the job. He is likely to be pacy and looks set to be a leading player. Vauquelin can beat them both however. Unlucky to come up against the classy Narrjoo and Dazed And Amazed this season, Vauquelin nonetheless made them pull out all the stops, finishing second on each occasion. After running in a Listed contest last time this represents a drop in grade and Vauquelin can lose his maiden tag.
