MASAMAH won this a year ago with Hamish McGonagall just behind in third and can repeat the process though he wouldn't want any more rain. Kevin Ryan's charge followed that success by landing the Group 2 King George Stakes at Goodwood and has generally performed at a higher level than this subsequently. Prohibit looks a major threat though he has disappointed on too many occasions. Last year's King's Stand Stakes winner finished a close third in the Nunthorpe here with Hamish McGonagall just in front but is taking his time to find his form this year. Stepper Point had the latter pair behind in a Group 2 at Chantilly last month and must be a threat on that form while another from the younger generation, Ponty Acclaim, ran very well on his reappearance here in May. Caledonia Lady is probably the main threat, however, as she showed just how much she had progressed when beating Confessional in a Group 3 at Sandown.
