Verdict

MR MATTHEWS showed an impressive attitude when obliging at Carlisle and followed up by taking the runner-up spot behind Good Old Lukey Boy who contests the Group 2 Superlative Stakes earlier in the day at Newmarket. Lanark steps down from Group company after an abortive effort in the Coventry Stakes behind War Command, having looked useful on his first two starts at Goodwood. He rates the main threat to the selection. Searchlight looks fairly treated on this handicap bow but has been a little disappointing whilst the remaining trio all represent Richard Fahey but look to have something to find against the aforementioned three.
