      Verdict

Jamie Spencer rode Distant Memories to victory in this a year ago for Tom Tate and the pair team up again with the admirable Balcarce Nov, who made all for an impressive victory over Al Zir in a three-horse race at Nottingham. Confront has generally performed at a much higher level and dead-heated for a Listed event here in 2009. A long absence shouldn't be a problem and he's on the short-list as is Leviathan, who ran a superb race behind Dunn'o at Sandown last time. Kay Gee Bee is in the form of his life and though 5lb higher for his Ripon victory still looks a threat as he's run well from this mark in the past. Charlie Cool and Sarrsar are held on that Ripon run while the consistent Tartan Trip is out of the handicap. VAINGLORY appeared unlucky in-running behind Dance And Dance at Epsom last week and hopefully Laura Pike can steer a clear path through this big field and gain compensation.
