Verdict

Gilt Edge Girl is improving all the time but she has a penalty to shoulder and so preference instead is for ROSE BLOSSOM ahead of Letteratura and Swiss Diva. Richard Fahey has made no secret of the regard that he holds this filly in and she looks ready for a return to this trip. Her natural pace should see her hard to catch and as a three-year-old (who have a good record in the race) she gets a handy weight-for-age allowance. Tropical Treat is unexposed and this Ayr Listed winner holds City Dancer on their clash last time, whilst Bounty Box and Swiss Diva clashed at Newmarket last time. The former prevailed on that occasion however David Elsworth's daughter of Pivotal will have come on plenty for that first start of the year and might reverse the placings. Look Busy is a smasher but her trip is five furlongs, a comment that doesn't necessarily apply to Jaconet but David Barron's mare may just lack the class of some of her rivals today. Letteratura is intriguing; her trainer doesn't send too many across the Channel and this daughter of Danehill Dancer has an upwardly mobile profile. The ground will be the quickest that she has faced but she cannot be discounted. Gilt Edge Girl and Golden Destiny are both rated in the 100's so are two older horses to respect; Clive Cox's filly was 3/4 of a length too good for Peter Makin's runner at Bath in April but a 2lb pull in the weights will see them closely matched. An intriguing contest then but preference is for the locally trained Rose Blossom.
