ZED CANDY gets the nod on his return from three months off. Richard Ford's gelding may be using this as a prep for returning to hurdling but he is proven on soft ground, stays well, and still looks fairly handicapped on a mark of 52. Derby Desire showed resolution to win at Brighton and escapes a penalty for that apprentice race win, Sparkaway is a course and distance winner who shaped with more promise last time out, whilst Bluegrass Lion needs a market check with Robert Winston an eye-catching jockey booking. Similarly Chris Catlin catches the eye on Jenny Dawson who is up in trip, but the bigger threat might be Strikemaster who drops in grade and he has a good pilot on-top. Quince is not discounted but along with Court Wing he was well-held behind Derby Desire last time.
