In depth

Verdict

Banjo Patterson lines up in top form and can complete a hat-trick at the expense of Master Robbie, Will He Wish and Vindication. Geoff Huffer has done well since returning to the training ranks, and Banjo Patterson could be the horse to put he and owner Terry Ramsden back on the map. The son of Green Desert won in the manner of a smart horse at Haydock six days ago, and the trainer reckons that he can be Listed or even Group class. With that in mind, he should be well up to defying a six-pound penalty this afternoon as he bids to beat this older opposition. The runner-up at Haydock, Arabian Moon, is trained by Mick Channon, so the West Ilsley handler should have a line to the chance of Master Robbie who also carries a penalty after spreadeagling the opposition at Leicester five days ago. That was like a bolt from the blue though, and he is not guaranteed to repeat the feat. Will He Wish is a course and distance winner but has yet to score this term and is hard to fancy on his latest effort at Chepstow, while Vindication is held by Master Robbie. Basically, if connections' faith is to be justified, Banjo Patterson should take this in his stride.
