In depth

Verdict

Godolphin have had a couple of winners recently and it may be worth chancing that Always Emirates gives them further success here in a race where opposition looks to be thin on the ground with Quantum and Stepping Stones rated the main dangers. The selection has shown enough to suggest that a race of this nature would be within his compass and he gets the vote in the belief that he is probably a good deal better than his first outing of the season would suggest as the yard's runners were badly out of form then. James Toller's Madame Medusa showed improved form here last time but needs to improve again to trouble the judge, while Wild Academy is entitled to reverse running with the Toller horse on running last time as that was his debut. John Gosden's Dama'a may be open to more improvement and could be of interest although a bigger threat is likely to come from stablemate Quantum, who should do better as a three-year-old this term. Henry Cecil's Stepping Stones has run to a fair standard in both her starts so far and cannot be discounted but Always Emirates looks an interesting contender and gets the vote.
