In depth

Verdict

Plausible cases can be made for all of the runners though DUBAI BOUNTY gets our nod with Anacopa and Raptor respected as dangers. Gerard Butler's filly was not too far behind Berling at Folkestone earlier in the season and with that colt going on to take a decent Newbury handicap since, the value of that form has appreciated greatly. Anacopa is probably one of the lesser lights of the Godolphin operation. She was seemingly unfancied when obliging in a Lingfield maiden and raced in a manner that suggests that she still has plenty to learn about racing. Raptor is from an unfashionable yard so could be a few points bigger than the form entitles. Back in blinkers, he has run with credit at this course in the past. Rocky's Pride was well beaten last time out though in mitigation, that was his first run out for Willie Musson. Yourgunnabelucky was quietly backed at longer odds for the Carlisle Bell but all hopes now seem to rest upon the cheekpieces having some effect having seen no improvement for the application and subsequent removal of blinkers. A tight handicap featuring progressive sorts and Dubai Bounty might be the most open to improvement.
