In depth

Verdict

ROUGH ROCK can defy top-weight here and is preferred to Cool Art and Equinity in a very winnable race. Chris Dwyer's gelding was not seen at his best at Brighton last time but we saw what he can do when winning over this course and distance in April. He is yet to run a bad race at the track and with his jockey claiming a valuable 7lb he is expected to run well. December's run at Wolverhampton last time reads well in the context of this race, Equinity was well-held at Folkestone last time but is better than that and is fairly handicapped now, whilst Bold Ring holds her on their effort behind Lastkingofscotland (runs here in the 2.50 race). Cool Art is a course and distance winner and with Ryan Moore booked he looks the pick of the John Wainwright pair, especially as his handicap mark has dropped due to average performances. Pressed For Time needs a market check after a break with the headgear removed, whilst the drop in trip will suit Shadow Bay. A good chance for Rough Rock to get back to winning ways.
