Verdict

SHARP ECLIPSE may prove capable of giving weight away all round and is preferred to Miss Polly Plum and Decency. It's always worth taking note when Jamie Spencer rides for Kevin Ryan as the jockey shows a level stakes profit and a one in four strike rate when riding for the Hambleton based trainer over the past five seasons. The gelding has made the frame in half of his six career starts and should be able to win a race of this nature when the cards all fall into place. Miss Polly Plum faced a tough task at Newmarket last time and duly struggled but she is better judged on her two runs preceding that and has live claims on those pieces of form although she is 5lbs higher than when second over course and distance. Prior to that she had finished a close third behind Decency at Kempton which brings Ed Dunlop's filly into calculations although it's a concern that she hasn't really shone the last twice. Bonnie Brae tries this trip for the first time having run out of gas close home when fourth behind Collect Art and has each-way claims in a race that can go to Sharp Eclipse.
