Verdict

Those that head the weights make most appeal here with CHESAPEAKE taken to beat Knar Mardy and Downward Spiral. Rated 117, our selection is the best of those with a rating here and can take advantage of the weight received from the last-mentioned pair. He ran well over course and distance last time and that effort entitles him to go one better here, so with the prospect of further improvement to come especially now blinkers are tried, he's taken to do just that. Knar Mardy has been on a roll of late, albeit in weaker races, and might be value for the forecast spot. Charlie Pogson's mare has a bit to find at the weights but loves the ground, stays the trip and can't be overlooked with total confidence. Downward Spiral may be slightly flattered by his mark having won at Towcester; this point-to-point winner is a resolute galloper who won't be stopping but may just get outpaced by out preferred pair. Triggernometry is better known for his exploits over fences and saves his best for Wincanton so looks opposable, Marblehead had been faring reasonably well in Hunter Chases until being pulled up last time and may struggle, so in a race that should concern three Chesapeake gets the strong vote.
