Le Grand Chene makes formbook appeal but is passed over as all his best has come on ground with cut. In contrast, RED LAW is effective on most surfaces and is raised 8lb for a comfortable Newton Abbot success over Lidjo Du Rouge last time. Previously he was a pleasing staying-on third behind Miller's Reef at Hereford over 2m and can continue his gradual improvement with conditions to suit. Most of the others are out of form but Papradon, who has had only two runs since last December, has performed well enough to stake a claim here and Green To Gold, a recent Folkestone winner on the level is also interesting for one of the shrewdest yards around. Market support for him would be highly significant.
