Verdict

BENEFIT GAME takes the eye in an otherwise uninspiring contest. He reeled in Lord Lescribaa's front-running show at Newton Abbot before finding a five furlong drop in trip too sharp when attempting to supplement gains at the same venue. He remains decently treated here and the step up to two and a half miles should suit with the return to hurdles of no concern as he has a course win to his name over timber. The Wee Midget looks the reliable each-way option and main danger. He too has scored over this trip and his consistency will stand him in good stead. Woodlark Island is starting to see the handicapper relent and enters calculations, whilst it will be interesting to see if the applications of blinkers revitalises Charles.
