Verdict

The four-year-old Optimistic Duke has already been tried in cheekpieces and blinkers and connections are now trying a visor as he tackles fences for the first time. Turn Up will probably need this after a break, while it's difficult to fancy either Wisteria Lane or Simiola on what they've achieved so far. Timoca won over hurdles at Towcester in May but makes his fencing bow off a restrictive mark and NAXOX is much preferred. Peter Hiatt's gelding won very easily over C&D two weeks ago and, though taken to task by the handicapper since, can follow up this evening.
