Verdict

John Ferguson doesn't have many bumper horses as he tends to recruit his jumpers from the Flat. But he won this last year and obviously thinks something of SHAMAL as he's booked A P McCoy to ride the gelding on debut. The four-year-old is a half-brother to the useful Flat winner Balducci and may have too much speed for these. Carmino, third at Southwell in April, and last month's Market Rasen runner-up Probably Sorry looks the best of those with experience but Arctic Chief should improve on last year's second on the Polytrack.
