In depth

Verdict

SHANAHAN is fancied to resume winning ways although Koh Samui and Rock Me could have a say in proceedings. The Little Bighorn gelding has proved an infrequent winner for his numerous trainers but he battled on well to open his account for his latest yard on his penultimate start. He was asked to do it all again just five days later which looked to come too soon and he may have benefited from his subsequent short break. Koh Samui failed to trouble the judge over hurdles but he has already improved on that after just two runs over fences. He chased home a progressive sort at Fontwell last time and should have more to offer although the winner did let the form down at Hereford in the week. Early Wings wasn't far behind that day so enters calculations but he doesn't always find as much as he promises and more of a threat may be posed by Rock Me who represents a shrewd yard and is well worth noting on his chase bow. Havenstone hasn't had many chances but he still has something to learn about jumping fences so preference is for Shanahan.
