In depth

Verdict

Don Pietro, Signal Hill and Night Cru form the shortlist and we shall take a chance with Don Pietro. Dennis Coakley's charge has been disappointing this term but he has shown a degree of ability on this surface in the past and with Eddie Ahern booked, he could represent some value at the likely odds. Signal Hill represents a yard in top form at the moment and while he has looked difficult to win with, he is still off a winnable mark. Night Cru is bidding for a hat-trick. He is making a debut on the surface today and with Ahern riding elsewhere, it will be interesting to see how the market responds. High Class Problem made all to win at Brighton over a mile recently and a 3lb rise has been accrued. Front running specialist, Joe Fanning is aboard. Persian Express is kept over a mile despite appearing to need further. Magical Music has won twice at the track and is respected. Don Pietro is given the nod on account of a favourable jockey booking.
