In depth

Verdict

A competitive claimer gets proceedings underway and the principals look to be Samuel Charles, Inside Story and Kirkhammerton and the tentative vote is given to Samuel Charles. The selection has been in good form of late and was a fair second last time out behind Desert Dreamer at Kempton. He hung left that day so the return to this left-handed track will suit and he should run a big race. Inside Story rates the main danger as he is dropping in grade. He hails from a yard in form and despite top weight he will not be far away. Kirkhammerton is another that could go well. He disappointed last time and although his best form is on this surface and he is well drawn, we are happy to take him on. Wahoo Sam has won here twice in the past and he is another that could go well but he is best when allowed to dominate and if he is taken on for the lead then that could scupper his chance. Dante's Diamond is game and consistent and is another to consider, but in a race where few can be ruled we will stick with Samuel Charles to lead them home.
