    Verdict

Willie Muir's Blue Neptune ran better when narrowly beaten in a claimer at Lingfield last month but a 6lb rise since that run looks harsh and he is probably best left out of calculations in a race that looks to lie between two last time out winners, LEWYN and Mrs Boss, with preference for the former. The selection is trained by Kevin Ryan, who has his string in good order right now and the daughter of Exceed And Excel confirmed that with a decent effort when beating R Woody over course and distance last month, a 4lb riSe for which she can overcome. Duke of Rainford was well held by Exceed Power on Friday, the winner that day reversing their earlier form, and he may well have to settle for minor honours again. Reg Hollinshead's Flaxen Lake ran better in a maiden last time and has to be considered returned to a handicap but he seems too high in the weights. Rod Millman's Mrs Boss was good value for her win in a Lingfield maiden last time and she has every chance in a handicap off a mark of 72 but she has been beaten off this mark before and a better bet looks to be Lewyn, who can give Kevin Ryan another winner.
