    Verdict

HAINES escapes a penalty after completing a four-timer in an apprentices' race at Southwell. He is worth sticking with until beaten. Lexington Bay has won for an amateur before and could go well but Highway Code is up 8lb for winning one of these events under Ryan Bird at Doncaster last month when Gold Medal was well beaten. Conserve was raised 7lb for her earlier win over course and distance but could still be in the mix with a leading amateur on board.
