        Verdict

        Jamie Osborne's Sergeant Lewis has been unlucky enough to encounter a couple of interesting types in his last two starts and is readily preferred over Miss Malone and Canadian Danehill, who are a couple of others that have hinted that there races to be won with them somewhere along the line. Stargem is another that could figure prominently in this company after running as if in need of the outing on his latest start. However, he lacks the scope held by the selection and would be getting 17lb from him if this were a handicap. Canadian Danehill is closely matched with the last mentioned and holds obvious place claims in this company, while Miss Malone was only a length adrift of our hope when they met at Lingfield a fortnight ago and is weighted to make a real race of it today. However, Sergeant Lewis was ridden to get the better of her last time and is fully expected to uphold the form today.
