In depth

Verdict

Cape Velvet, King Of Legend and Lascelles are the only three with realistic claims but preference for John Hills's filly can only be tentative. It's hard to get too enthusiastic about a selection that is still a maiden after eleven starts but she's effective over this course and distance and it's hard to imagine her finding many easier opportunities. Lascelles is actually rated her superior but he hardly impressed when beaten sixteen lengths at Lingfield in September and has enough questions to answer on his return. The betting may point the way. King Of Legend shaped encouragingly on debut for a new yard earlier in the month and should come on for the run. If he settles better this afternoon then he'd have live claims but Cape Velvet is taken to land that elusive success.
