Verdict

A longer trip in soft ground at Newmarket are legitimate excuses for the poor latest run of EDRAAQ. He'd finished third over today's distance at Lingfield before that and, as the first two home have both subsequently won, the form looks solid enough. Brian Meehan's charge gets the nod to open his account ahead of Mariet, who should have come on for her debut sixth at Goodwood and Sir Lexington, who showed a bit more at Haydock last month and steps up in trip. Chemistry Master is capable of better and newcomer Broughtons Pearl is related to all-weather winners.
