        Verdict

        The weights favour Paktolos here and John Harris's charge is definitely feared, but with the yard hitting a flat spot we will take a chance on NEVADA DESERT. Richard Whittaker's string is in good shape and this 10-year-old is now on a career-low mark of 60. Although he has not won over this far he has rarely raced at the trip and was a staying-on winner over 10f last season, so there is hope. He might appreciate the drop back to this grade. Mongoose Alert is interesting after a decent run here last time in a maiden, while Talenti is proven over the trip and has to come into calculations if we are overlooking the likely favourite.
