Verdict

We will take a chance and side with WHISKEY JACK here; the main dangers would appear to be Layer Cake and Omnium Duke. The selection has the best of the draw and he has to be of interest now that he is dropped back into a maiden. He should come on for his recent reappearance run here and with the longer trip expected to bring about some improvement he gets our vote. Layer Cake ran his best race for a while here last time out when he finished second behind Voortrekker over 1m1f. He seems to like it here and the drop in trip will not be a problem so he should go well. Omnium Duke finished in third behind his stablemate Layer Cake last time and although he ran quite well that day, he does not look entirely straightfoward. Gulf President returns to maiden company after a string of disappointing efforts in handicaps and he is hard to fancy. We will stick with Whiskey Jack to finally shed his maiden tag.
