Verdict

CLOSE AT HAND has revealed distinct promise on all three starts in useful maiden company and things did not pan out for her at Nottingham last time so the Gosden filly can be marked up for her close third to Odeliz. The second home has won since and she should be too good for these rivals. First Secretary appeals as the sort to improve when sent handicapping whilst Cloudwalker has shown enough in maiden company to play a role, notably when a fair fifth to Broadway Dancer at Newbury last time. The interesting one is the 300,000 euros purchase Alegra, a daughter of Galileo. She has presumably had her problems coming to the track for the first time at this stage of her career but she's certainly bred to be useful for the combination of Sir Robert Ogden and Lady Cecil that tasted triumph and disaster in a matter of moments with the ill-fated Thomas Chippendale at Royal Ascot.
