      Verdict

Songye is an interesting northern raider for Kevin Ryan although the yard hasn't scored with any of their six juveniles here in the past five years - an admittedly small sample. He followed up a solid debut fourth at Haydock behind Archie before going close at Carlisle when the subject of strong support and the son of Mafki has solid claims to go one better. TYPHOON SEASON was one of three Hannon juveniles to contest a Newmarket maiden of some stature at the July meeting when clearly least fancied of the trio. However, he belied lengthy odds with a good run in fifth, only tiring late on and seems sure to benefit from the experience. He receives preference in the belief his run came in the stronger race. Captain Marmalade and Drumkilbo have displayed ability on a couple of starts apiece but need to step up again to trouble the aforementioned pair.
