In depth

Verdict

There is no guarantee that the blinkers will work for a second time on Paktolos, and so we will side with Step This Way who gets bags of weight as a three-year-old. The selection romped home recently in a Lady Rider's race at York and fully deserves his 8lb rise in the weights. His previous run behind Resplendent Light looks rock solid as he has gone on to win since and on these terms he must be a major player. Zonergem is lightly-raced and must be considered, whilst Come On Jonny is better than we have seen so far this season. Frank Sonata is another who drops in class but hasn't been shining of late, whilst Royal Jet should be monitored for market support after a period on the sidelines. Coyote Creek won well at Doncaster recently, but like Paktolos, there is no guarantee that the headgear will have the same affect this time around. Sahrati tries the blinkers for the first time, whilst Prince Sabaah and Grande Caiman give Richard Hannon a strong hand. Another open race, but Step This Way can take this race for Mark Johnston, who previously won it in 2006 with Luberon.
