Verdict

Richard Hannon has his team in fine form at present so the likelihood is that Carnaby Street will do better than on his debut at Chepstow at the beginning of the month but stable companion Planet Red has more solid claims and is preferred of the two Hannon runners, however, it is GHOST that looks the one to beat. Having made a promising debut over course and distance, the Barry Hills-trained colt ran much better when chasing home Mr David at Newmarket nine days ago and a reproduction of that effort may well suffice. There are some interesting newcomers in opposition with Brian Meehan's Avonbridge colt Onyx Of Arabia and Mick Channon's Burgau Royal, a son of Noverre, looking the pick of them. A market move for Roger Charlton's Humidor would be of some interest but more solid claims are held by Richard Hannon's Planet Red. The son of Bahamian Bounty had little chance behind Walkingonthemoon at Newbury on his only start in April but ran well to finish within two lengths of the winner and has solid claims but the faster ground today may not be to his advantage and preference is for Ghost.
