In depth

Verdict

It is a rare even for Richard Hannon not to have an impact on the Monday evening cards at Windsor and he can again pick up with Overwing, who is selected ahead of Be My Charm and Balthazaar's Gift. The well-bred Opus Magnus is another to bear in mind if he comes in for any support on his debut. The son of Mozart looks sure to improve with experience, though, and he might be best watched in this occasion. Balthazaar's Gift was very well backed on his sole start to date and showed plenty of promise until tiring up the hill at Carlisle. The experience will have done him good and he could easily post a much better effort this time. Be My Charm met trouble in running here a fortnight ago but still posted a creditable performance. She looks sure to pick up a maiden at some point and rates as the biggest threat to the selection. Nevertheless, Hannon already has a solid form line to go on with her from her debut run. And it will come as no surprise to see Overwing find the improvement necessary over the minimum trip here.
