    Verdict

Glistening is just the type of lightly-raced sort that Sir Michael Stoute excels with, and is the pick over stablemate Border Castle, Humourous and Nightspot. Glistening is bred to be a useful middle-distance sort, being a half-brother to Tenby among others, and showed that he will pay his way when opening his account with the minimum of fuss at Thirsk last month. Too slow to come to hand to figure in the Derby picture, he could turn out to be Listed class later this season and so the handicapper has probably not over reacted in giving him a mark of 92. Stable companion Border Castle has not been seen much in the past two years, but has impressed on occasions and is not out of it despite topweight if fit enough. Humourous has plenty to prove but is bred to get the trip as he returns to the fray, while Nightspot is a course winner but runs into some potentially smart sorts here. Kharish was disappointing at York last time but with the stable back on song, a good run is on the cards. However, if Glistening is to reach the heights expected, he must surely make an impression today on his handicap bow.
