Beaver Patrol lost no caste in defeat when a close up fifth behind Zidane in the Stewards' Cup last time and is taken to gain ample compensation here, getting the vote ahead of The Kiddykid and Border Music. The last mentioned, like the selection, ran creditably at Goodwood on his most recent start and has claims on that evidence. Mick Channon's Obe Gold has run creditably on his last two starts and is entitled to be thereabouts again but has gone up 4lbs for his latest effort and that looks harsh. One More Round is better than recent efforts suggest but is hard to back with confidence on those showings, while Phantom Whisper may prefer a softer surface. The Kiddykid has been running well on unsuitably soft ground and may do better back on fast ground now but Beaver Patrol holds the best recent form and he is the one that gets the vote.
