In depth

Verdict

KING DRAGON ran a cracker on his debut in a hot-looking Newmarket maiden and a tilt at the Coventry Stakes was probably a case of too much too soon. Brian Meehan's gelding is definitely worth another chance back in this grade and looks to have a decent draw. Whipper Snapper should improve on his second on soft ground at Newmarket last month but Fletcher Christian and Marvelino have already had plenty of chances, though the latter has run his best race over this trip. Richard Hannon's two-year-olds here can never be ignored so a market move for either Dominate or The Art Of Racing would be interesting while Derwent is a half-brother to six winners, including the smart Three Valleys, and should be winning sooner rather than later.
