    Verdict

A competitive finale can go the way of RAWDON, with Krugerrand and Horseshoe Reef put up as alternatives. It wouldn't be a surprise whatever were to win it though, as all have some decent form behind them, albeit not recently. Gay Kellaway's gelding's best form has come at Southwell, so he may prefer it a little softer underfoot. He's not won in a year, and has a questionable temperament so everything has to fall right for him. Second last time out when carrying a pound overweight, he's got plenty of headgear on again, with the blinkers, eyeshield and tongue strap all being carried to keep him on the straight and narrow. Krugerrand wins all too rarely, and may prefer it a little softer. Placed in his last three outings, all of which have been on the polytrack, he's at the right end of the weights. Horseshoe Reef is usually at the vanguard, but finished third at Southwell last time after going off too fast too soon. He's the yard's only runner on the card. A close study can throw up more questions than answers. Any market support for bottom weight Annambo would be interesting, having his first run for 18 months and first for trainer Andrew Reid. However, our support tentatively goes to Rawdon.
