In depth

Verdict

THE CAYTERER's is probably in the form of his life and is nominated to complete his hat-trick ahead of Traphalgar, Resurge and State Banquet. Plenty of in-form performers here but Tony Carroll's charge was an impressive winner last time. He soon put the race to bed when winning here over a mile and if he gets this longer trip ok then he should run well. State Banquet is the least exposed in the line-up and he certainly wasn't disgraced on his recent handicap debut; that was his first run of the season and he should have improved for the run. Baylini needs to improve on recent showings but is now back to an interesting mark, as is Brouhaha for Tom Dascombe. A drop back to this trip will suit Special Reserve whose sole win came over this course and distance. Resurge blew away his rivals here last time and a 6lb penalty may not be enough to stop him if in the same mood, whereas Traphalgar was less impressive at Beverley but the end result was the same. This looks to be a tricky contest to call but we will stick with The Cayterers.
