Verdict

The handicapper has given Den's Gift a chance raising him just 2lbs for his win at Lingfield in January and the Clive Cox-trained gelding has to be respected back on turf but a chance is taken with ORCHARD SUPREME, who gets the vote with The Galloping Shoe rated the pick of the remainder. The selection probably raced on the wrong side at Doncaster last time and Richard Hannon's gelding looks worth another chance on ground conditions that suit at what could be a value price. Gary Moore's Shanzu was disappointing when last seen on a softer surface at Goodwood in October and could probably do with some help from the handicapper. Paul Cole's Trans Siberian is another that looks a shade high in the weights, while the lightly raced Light From Mars has to be respected but Rod Millman's runners have yet to hit top gear. Elna Bright faces no easy task under a penalty for his narrow win at Bath on Friday and a bigger threat is likely to come from Jeremy Noseda's The Galloping Shoe, who was good value for his debut success in a Brighton maiden in April and now makes his debut in a handicap. Preference though is for Orchard Supreme who looks worth another chance off his current weight.
