Peter Makin comes to the course for this one race, and in a wide-open contest, we'll side with his gelding HAZYTOO to follow up a recent success in a similar contest at Warwick, in preference to Alfresco and Fyodor. Hazytoo's win was in a lower grade than this, and also his first on turf in ten attempts, so we wouldn't be going overboard about him. Ryan Moore on board looks to be a significant booking. Alfresco is top weight and carries a penalty for winning a similar race at Goodwood last week. That was the first time he'd triumphed on turf too. A regular winner over a mile on the all-weather, this trip clearly suits too. First time cheekpieces are being applied. David Evans' string are in fine form, and Fyodor having been claimed by him recently is having his first outing for the yard. He's long overdue a turf success, with all his wins in the last four years being on the all-weather. He's not been the most straightforward, but a change of scenery may bring about a change of luck. Our preference though is for Hazytoo.
